Video and photos from the Readers’ Day 2021

Sunny skies, big smiles and a recommitment to ministry at the annual Readers’ Day celebration at Gloucester Cathedral. You can see some of the photos of this special day of fellowship here —>

People from across the Diocese of Gloucester who have a Reader ministry, came together to connect, worship and eat together. Our new Lay Ministry Officer and Warden of Readers Lee Barnes introduced himself to the diocese’s Readers this morning, telling about his past in Australia and Bristol and his sense of calling, first to the Reader ministry and later to ordained ministry.

Lee was a familiar figure outside Bristol Cathedral where he would ride his skateboard and connect with younger people. You can watch his full talk plus a question and answer session with the Readers and Bishop Robert below.

At the Service of Admission, licensing and recommitment to Reader ministry in the afternoon, we welcomed Paula Rix and Sam Williams as fuller admitted and licensed members of the Reader community, together with Vicky Southby who has moved from the Diocese of Oxford.
