Mirror, mirror answer me, what is it I need to be…

Four young, talented spoken word artists have written and performed pieces, especially produced for the Diocese of Gloucester’s Liedentity campaign, to help change the message that who you are, is all about how you look.

The liedentity campaign is raising the discussion around the impact of social media on young people’s lives, especially about how they feel about their bodies. The Bishop of Gloucester, the Right Revd Rachel Treweek who leads on the campaign said, “We are bombarded with messages of what the ‘perfect body image’ is, and for many this undermines true identity. We know that for many young people, having negative thoughts about how they look can impact on their entire life, causing deep unhappiness and contributing to poor mental health.”

The four young artists, all with their own experiences and views have created beautiful, challenging poetry and shared personal experiences in the hope of raising this issue among their peers.
