Vicar, St Lawrence Barnwood
The Bishop of Gloucester seeks to appoint a joyful and relational priest to this welcoming and community-focussed parish. Barnwood is a large suburb of Gloucester with many opportunities for partnerships and mission. The church tradition is broad with a Eucharistic focus, along with other worship styles, and a much valued choir. They would like to develop a vision for mission and connect more with their neighbours.
The person appointed will:
- Enjoy being part of the local community, being hospitable and able to relate well to people of all ages and stages of life and faith.
- Encourage the gifts of individuals so that all may play their part in the life of the church and its witness.
- Have the gifts and skills to lead the church community in discerning and developing vision and strategy for mission.
- Be committed to partnership with the C of E primary school and relish the opportunities for mission and service in the local schools.
- Be a person of spiritual and sacramental depth and wisdom, an excellent teacher and communicator of the gospel.
There is a ministry team of readers, local retired clergy and lay leaders who share in mission and ministry and the church is blessed with a well-organised and highly efficient parish office.
